New Denver VA Hospital & PTSD Program With regards to the resolution dated Dec.5th, 2009. I certainly agree with MOST of the resolution. Having gone through the program myself in June 2009 and after contacting all of my fellow patients and others that have previously been through the program. They, including myself were NOT contacted as to OUR opinion as to how we felt about being in a "sterile" environment of a hospital. The convienence of being located in the hospital settingwas very ideal for those of us who had health related appointments as we were located right there within the hsopital. Example: in Sept. 2009 there were 300 health related appointments for 19 PTSD Patients. Yes, if the funding is approved and the new building is consructed that would be fantastic and I applaud the American Legion for the resolution. However, NO ONE can answer this question: "What if the funding is NOT approved"? What then happens to the PTSD Program??? We need guarantees. Merely creating a resolution or writing a letter to the Sec. of Vetgeran Affairs does not guarantee approval. If a building has to be purchased off the new hospital campus there will be unknown purchase and remodeling costs and perhaps hidden costs such as asbestos removal. Then, once that is complete there will be "shuttle" expense to get each veteran to his appointment which means he will miss hours of intensive therapy! Short of getting approval for that new building next door to the new VA hospital the PTSD Program would PREFER to be located within the "sterile" environment of the hospital. Its only 8 weeks!! This should have been part of the resolution. |

Veterans Day Parade Dan, myself and Dave Marrero from Post 203 are members on the Pueblo Chamber of Commerce's Veterans Day Parade Committee. We are looking for ideas for a parade Marshal. Last year we had Pearl Harbor Survivors. This year we'd like to honor or current soldiers. So, if you have any ideas or suggestions please email or call either one of us. Thanks |
